Our Commitment to Safeguarding
At Kingston Wildcats School of Basketball, we are fully committed to ensuring that every participant feels safe and secure while training and playing within our club. Our goal is to create an environment where players of all backgrounds—regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, ability, religion, or socio-economic factors—can thrive. Every child has the right to feel protected, and we work together as a club to deliver this to the highest standard.
The club adheres to all policies relating to Child Protection and Safeguarding, as outlined by both the government and Basketball England. This means we follow rigorous procedures to safeguard children and young people in line with national guidance. Our approach ensures that all participants are not only learning and growing in a safe space but that their welfare is always prioritised.
We are proud to have Maricel Palacpac as our dedicated Child Welfare Officer. Maricel’s role is to oversee safeguarding within the club and ensure that all policies are properly implemented and followed. She is the main point of contact for any concerns regarding the welfare of our young players and works closely with coaches, volunteers, and parents to uphold our safeguarding standards.
All coaches, volunteers, spectators, and players who engage with anyone under 18 years old in any club-related activity are required to comply with these safeguarding policies. There are no exceptions. We expect everyone involved with Kingston Wildcats to take responsibility for maintaining the safety of our participants and to follow the outlined procedures at all times.
For more information on safeguarding, and to review the policies that we subscribe to, please refer to the Basketball England Safeguarding Policy, which can be found here.
By adhering to these policies, we aim to ensure that Kingston Wildcats School of Basketball remains a positive, inclusive, and secure environment for every child and young person who steps onto the court.
