About Kingston Wildcats School of Basketball

Established in 1994 as the junior development arm of the Kingston Wildcats Men’s team, Kingston Wildcats School of Basketball has grown into a vibrant and inclusive club based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. What started with just 12 players on an U18 team in the Surrey League has now blossomed into a club of over 100 members, offering programmes for under 10s right through to under 18s, as well as opportunities for adults.

As a non-profit organisation, our club is run by dedicated volunteer coaches and parents who give up their time to organise training sessions, competitive fixtures, and coach our teams. We believe in creating an environment where players can thrive, building skills that not only help on the court but carry through into all areas of life. Hard work, determination, passion, and commitment are values we hold dear, and these principles help our players overcome barriers and achieve success both on and off the court.

Thanks to the combined efforts of our players, coaches, and volunteers, Kingston Wildcats has become one of the most successful national league clubs in Surrey. Our teams regularly make it to the playoffs, and many of our players are selected to represent Surrey or the South East England regional programmes, which serve as a pathway to the England national squad.

Our club is truly inclusive, welcoming players of all abilities. The only requirements are a willingness to take direction, show respect, and have the desire to improve. We engage actively with the community through our satellite school programmes and community development sessions, giving everyone a chance to enjoy basketball—whether it’s competitively or just for fun.

As a not-for-profit organisation, every penny we raise through membership fees and funding is reinvested back into the club. This helps us continue developing basketball in the area and ensures we provide opportunities for everyone. Beyond developing players, we’re also committed to growing the workforce that supports basketball by offering bursaries for parents and young people to become referees and coaches.

At Kingston Wildcats, we’re more than just a basketball club. We’re a community that thrives on teamwork, dedication, and a shared passion for the game.
